Eric ShipmanEric ShipmanEric Shipman joined Aydin Bird as an Associate Counsel in January, 2011. Eric practices corporate commercial law and has specialized expertise in the entertainment and technology law fields.

During his over 25 years as a business lawyer, Eric has acted for a wide variety of entrepreneurs, professionals, artists and financiers and has acquired extensive experience and skill in negotiating and documenting complex commercial transactions. Eric has exceptional knowledge and ability in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, as well as in real estate, intellectual property and estate planning matters. Eric’s creative perspective, garnered through his work in the entertainment and technology industries, enables him to craft unique solutions to his clients’ most challenging legal matters.

Work Experience:

In 1976-77, Eric worked as a researcher and policy advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Energy.
Eric was called to the Alberta bar in 1981 and to the BC bar in 1987.
Eric first practiced as an associate with a major Calgary law firm, then as an associate and partner with a national law firm in Vancouver. In 1993, he was a founding member of a small firm in Vancouver, and in 2004, he continued his practice as an associate counsel at an established Vancouver firm for over 6 years prior to joining Aydin Bird.

Eric is a member of the Entertainment and Business Law sections of the Canadian Bar
Association. He has also previously served as a Director of several publicly-traded corporations.

Eric’s love of travel has taken him to many beautiful places around the world, particularly in developing countries. His hobbies include golf, skiing, and long walks on the beach.
